Asian Plum Sauce For Alaska Halibut

​Did you catch TFC on KFQD today? There's a whole list of new recipes to try this summer, starting with that great German potato salad posted last week. Today it's a delicate plum sauce that compliments the hearty flesh of Alaska halibut. Check it out and grill something good for Independence Day.

  • Prep Time: 35 mins
  • Total Time: 45 mins
  • Servings: 4
Ingredients
  • Sauce
    • 1 tsp dry mustard
    • 2 Tbs rice vinegar or 2 Tbs cider vinegar
    • 2 tsp soy sauce
    • 1 tsp sesame oil
    • 1/4 cup Chinese-style plum sauce
    • 2 Tbs hot water
    • 2 Tbs finely sliced scallions
    • salt
    • fresh ground pepper
  • Fish
    • 4 (1/2 lb) halibut fillets, about 1 1/2 inches thick
    • 2 Tbs finely sliced scallions, for garnish
Directions
  1.   The sauce: in a bowl, mix all the sauce ingredients together; mix until completely blended and smooth; taste for seasoning.
  2.  Place halibut in a zip-lock plastic bag and pour ¼ cup of the sauce over it; turn the fish in the bag to coat evenly; seal bag and marinate fish for at least 30 minutes and up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
  3.  Prepare grill for med-high heat grilling or a grill pan over high heat.
  4.  Spray grill pan with cooking spray; remove fillets from the marinade and place on the grill or in grill pan.
  5.  Cook for about five minutes per side, or until cooked through and opaque.
Place the fillets on serving plates and spoon over some of the remaining sauce; garnish with the scallions and serve immediately.
